1. About TrueNorth API

TrueNorth API provides a Canadian sales-tax, address-validation, and shipping-check API for developers. TrueNorth API handles personal information in line with applicable Canadian privacy laws. Contact: support@truenorthapi.ca.

2. What TrueNorth API collects

• Account information: your email address and account preferences when you sign up.
• Authentication data: sign-in is handled by TrueNorth API's hosting provider; passwords are stored as hashes, never in plain text.
• API usage data: which endpoints you call, when, and how many calls you make, used to enforce quotas, bill paid plans, and keep the service secure.
• Request contents: the data you send to the API (for example, addresses you validate or product descriptions you classify) is processed to produce the response. TrueNorth API does not build profiles from it or use it for advertising.
• Payment information: processed by Stripe. TrueNorth API never sees or stores your full card number.
• Support correspondence: emails you send to support@truenorthapi.ca.

3. How TrueNorth API uses it

TrueNorth API uses personal information to operate the service (accounts, quotas, billing), keep it secure and reliable, respond to support requests, and meet legal obligations. TrueNorth API does not sell personal information, and does not use it for advertising.

4. Who TrueNorth API shares it with

TrueNorth API shares limited data with the processors that run the service: its hosting and database provider (account and usage data), Stripe (payments), and its email provider (transactional emails such as sign-up confirmations). They may only use it to provide their services. TrueNorth API discloses information if required by law or to protect the service against abuse.

5. Retention

Account data is kept while your account is active. Usage logs are kept as long as needed for billing, quotas, and security. If you close your account, TrueNorth API deletes or anonymizes your personal information within a reasonable time, except where the law requires keeping records (for example, tax invoices).

6. Security

TrueNorth API uses reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections and restricted access to production systems. No method is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

7. Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or close your account, at any time by emailing support@truenorthapi.ca. TrueNorth API will respond within a reasonable time.

8. Cookies

The dashboard uses strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in. TrueNorth API does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced on the site or by email before they take effect.
